Artist Statement Biography

Lindsey (Lou) Howard (b. 1997) is a ceramic sculptor examining the intersections of food, culture, and value. She creates satirized, sculptural depictions that critically examine the visual culture of food products within capitalist industries. At the forefront of her work is an interest in food psychology and the questioning of American consumption practices. By investigating the relationship between emotion and consumption, Howard pushes the boundaries of food humor and horror, drawing from culinary histories, the spectacle of foodie culture and trends, and observations and critiques of the American industrial food complex. Born in Dallas, Texas and based in Brooklyn, New York, Howard received her BA in Art History from the University of Northern Colorado with concentrations in Ceramics and Chemistry. Her work has been exhibited domestically and internationally including Museum Stadtpalais in Stuttgart, Germany (2023); Christie's Gallery in London, England (2024); LAMB Gallery in London, England (2025); and Jeffery Deitch in Miami, Florida (2025). Howard has presented solo exhibitions with Launch F18 (New York, NY) in 2022 and Albertz Benda (Los Angeles, CA) in 2023. She was an artist-in-residence at PLOP in London, England (2023) and a current artist-in-residence at the Museum of Art and Design (2025).
