Artist Statement Biography
Carmen Mardónez (Santiago, 1988) is a Chilean textile artist who recently arrived in Oxford from Los Angeles, USA, where she lived for six years (2017-2023). Her work explores an imagery of rebellion and freedom through oversized freestyle embroidery, fabric sculptures made from textile waste, and surrounding textile installations. Her award-winning artwork has been exhibited in curated shows across California and the US.
